My first requirement for this computer was that it be wisper quiet. It really is! I use it as a media center computer to back up my other components. I had to call HP Technical support several times for help in figuring out how to set the video card to work with Bluray on my large monitor and on my desktop screen. HP daytime tech support is great. It's the first time I've had tech support call back on any product to see how I'm getting along. I'm also using this computer for video and photo editing using Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 8. It handles everything with power and memory to spare.

I've been looking to replace my 6 year old Dell for a little over a year. While I used to always purchase the most current desktop with the fastest processor, most memory, etc, I've since scaled back on that approach a bit. I now believe it's in my best interests to buy something 'middle of the road'. I don't play intense 3D games on my PC, it's mostly for internet surfing (shopping, bill paying), email, work applications (Microsoft Office), and occasionally listening to music or watching movies.
For awhile, I've been looking for a way to dump my DVR and possibly even the cable subscription. My thought was that this PC might allow me to do that -- given the TV tuner and enough disk space to record live TV. It falls a little short of that but I don't believe that's not the PC's fault. It's more of an issue with Media Center and Time Warner -- it's a long story but the TV tuner, despite being hooked up to the incoming cable, only picks up the local HD stations. I get all the standard cable channels (ESPN, History, Discovery, etc) but those are not recognized or decoded by Media Center. Thus, if you're looking to get rid of your DVR with this PC, it probably won't work. It depends on your cable provider but I wouldn't count on it working.
Nevertheless, that is only one portion of the PC. It's got a decent processor and a lot of memory -- a very good thing. I don't see any skipping or delays when I run somewhat memory intensive applications. Like I said earlier, I'm not playing an memory intensive games but I do watch TV on it and haven't seen any problems handling HDTV. The blu-ray player is a nice addition. I don't own any blu-rays yet so I haven't tested that but I've watched normal DVDs on it and they work well.
The Easy backup button is a nice feature and there are a host of different connections (USB, VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc) on the PC -- more than sufficient. The PC also runs much quieter than my old one. That wasn't a selling point to me but it turns out to be a nice benefit.
The only other knock I have on the PC is the display drivers. Again, this may be more of a Vista issue than anything else. However, the ATI graphics card uses the ATI control center (and drivers) to control the display. I originally hooked it up to my 32in Dynex 720P TV via VGA. It worked just fine. I then hooked it up via HDMI. I noticed that the display was a bit clearer but it had trouble maintaining the proper resolution -- the PC wanted to make the resolution 1280x720 when the monitor supported 1360x768. Seems minor but when I tried to force the higher resolution, the screen got cutoff. I updated my graphics drivers from ATI and the issue did not get resolved. I could force it to the higher resolution but everytime I turned off the monitor or the PC went into sleep mode, it would cut off the screen again. A bit frustrating. I played with it for about a week before finally contacting HP support via email. To my surprise, support was pretty good. It took 3-4 emails before I finally got a resolution but each time they made a new suggestion and then pushed it up to the next level when that did not work. FYI - Ultimately, I had to roll back the graphics driver and ATI Control Center to an earlier version in order to get it to work. There are some issues with the overscan compensation of the ATI driver that cause the issue to occur. HP has an updated driver on their site specific to this issue.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase. I have a new PC that is running well and any issues I've had were relatively easy to resolve. I'm holding my breath a bit with the Windows 7 update just around the corner but I'm actually hoping it will resolve some of the driver issues that I've seen.

No landing pad as advertised. HP declined to take any action about the no landing pad on top for small electronics, would have returned but Amazon (Best of the Best) gave me a price adjustment (HP you owe Amazon and should take a lesson in customer service). The PC functions as expected, several nice features. Handles photos and music easily. Ton of memory with excellent price. Familiar hookups and features. Do not load on a lot of files until you are sure it is functional, HP support will put you in a reboot after hours of "trying" to fix non working bluray drive and you'll have to reload. The support personnel are polite and try their level best to be helpful, but when you call be sure to have plenty of time and a comfy chair. Would recomend product. Amazon gets five stars, HP gets one,HP support a two and product gets a three. HP's response after complaint was elevated to a higher level customer service specialist, was "too bad for you" and "there is nothing we can do","we cannot send you a landing pad as we have no part number" when informed the product was not as advertised by them.

Just purchased this item and I'm impressed with the Speed of this box. With the AMD Phenon II 925 Processor at 2.8GHz is way faster than my old Intel Hyper-threaded (hyperthread was garbage.. freezes up a lot) box. Video/processing power makes it the Multi-media heaven box.
The same machine costs so much $$$ more if you customize it online at HP.com. I didn't get a monitor for my price.
Pros: Awesome CPU, lots of freebies for the price, tuner, extra memory, SD/CF reader, extra memory for video (1GB memory ATI not Nvidia),
Neutral: Green (drive to save energy) Western Digital 1TB drive at 5400rpm but with a 32MB cache. Speed tests on Tom's hardware is awesome and faster than many other ones out there including Hitachi. However past experience with WD indicate reliability issues. I guess I'll see.
This one uses 3 platters instead of 4 which is less moving parts and saves energy. Maybe with less moving parts and at a slower rpm, this one will last longer. My Hitachi/IBM drive still is going strong with 4+ years.
Cons: HP doesn't include a recovery disk. Even the low end Lenovo desktop includes it for FREE. That's is awful for a HP to skim on that since we are buy a [..]+ computer here. I had to pony up around [..] for them.
Overall, I like the HP Media Drive Bays for backups are great for backups. Everything is very easy to access and use.

Update 1: Found Personal Media Drive slot has bad cable or something. It would not recognize the HP PMD thru the PMD drive bay. Need to send in for repairs under warranty.
HP support is avg to bad. Bounced around 5 times in 1 night. Better to call in the US daytime.

Update 2: Received desktop fixed by HP back in a few days from HP. Faster than I though. Media Drive works now.
But HP has stolen my right rubber feet on the front side. So another call to HP on another issue.

Update 4: Called HP again and a night HP tech works are totally clueless and said they will escalate case. Found out 2 days after, they didn't escalate the case when call back the morning HP tech crew. I guess the HP night support crew is an answering service only.

Update 5: Took 2 weeks and did receive the missing part.
Expected Quality of product after fix: Probably a 5 out of 5.
HP Support (US morning crew) 4 out of 5.
HP Support (US night crew) 1 out of 5.
HP QA of Product: 2 out of 5. (you wonder why so many returns on HPs). They have no QA (Quality Assurance). The issue that I encountered could have been avoided if they did their QA.
Recommendation:
You get what you pay for in price and quality. I do recommend AMD processors (the little guy).
