I used there service and was very unhappy.

I reported them to the better business bureau!!

They still called to renew my service .

Then they started calling my home 4-5 times a day even after I told them no.

Never get involved with this company.

 "extortionists" 2009-12-16
By Erik Gordon Bainbridge (West Marin, CA United States)
Incredibly, if you need to uninstall iYogi, they demand that you PAY them to uninstall it or to tell you how to install it! If you're not using iYogi, having it on your computer is a major problem; it not only slows the boot process significantly, it prevents you from reinstalling Windows by preventing you from using cntl-F11.

As a favor to a person whose only income is Social Security, I was trying to rebuild Dell Dimension whose former owner had installed iYogi on it, but iYogi was blocking me from reinstalling the Windows. I didn't have a recovery disk, so cntl-F11 was my only option for reinstalling Windows. The problem is that iYogi modifies the hard drive MBR, making it impossible for most people to uninstall. I am a computer professional and was able to modify the MBR to bring it back to Dell specifications and then to reinstall Windows, but this is beyond the skills of most people.

The iYogi service may be great; the Dell's original owner was satisfied with it. I have no experience with iYogi (other than them demanding that I pay them to remove their software) so I can't say, but I don't like being extorted to remove software simply so I can rebuild a computer as a favor for a low income person. Based on this, I will not be recommending iYogi to any of my clients.

 "Fantastic All-In-One" 2010-02-01
By Katharine J Moriarty (Seattle, WA)
I wasn't looking for a heavy duty PC, but something simple and to get the job done. I am a photographer and do minor editing to my works so I didn't need anything major. It has been almost 2 months now since I've had the computer and there hasn't been one issue. I can't say the same for the Dell laptop that replaced this. The first month I had the Dell laptop and there were issues right away. Then again, I take very good care of this computer, and make sure Norton security is always on. My only complaint is the adhesive sticker on the bottom left hand corner. Is it really necessary to have put a sticker there? No. If attempted to remove, it leaves a white residue. So I have left the sticker there. It is a tiny bit of an eyesore. Other then that, the monitor is fantastic. The system run smoothly. And I love Windows 7.

"Good Computer so far, but AWFUL STICKER ON FACE" 2010-01-12
By A. Valdes (Central Texas)
Good computer. Easy to unpack and set up. I can run Napster, Explorer, Word, etc. at the same time without experiencing any slowdown. So far it's been fine for my pedestrian needs and it is an attractive computer. HOWEVER, there is a 1 inch high, 6 inch long sticker affixed to the lower left hand corner of the monitor that, when removed, leaves paper backing and adhesive on the shiny plastic screen frame. My attempt to remove the sticker resulted in an unsightly long adhesive mark (white against the black frame) and some minor scratches on the computer. I purchased some goo gone and will try to tackle removing the adhesive this morning, but I'm shocked that HP would undoubtedly spend countless hours and dollars designing a nice product, only to screw it all up with the huge sticker.

"Generally good; problem with dvd drive; big problem with HP telephone help" 2010-01-09
By Primrose Hill (UK)
Shortly before Thanksgiving I helped a relative whose previous desktop was on its last legs to pick out a new computer, and we decided that an all-in-one would be good for her small desk and very modest computing needs. We had not tried the HP brand before, but she was not happy with her previous Gateway or Toshiba, so took a chance (as this was really the only all-in-one at a price point she was willing to consider). This one looked nice, was at a decent price, and seemed to have everything she would need. I volunteered to set it up for her, transfer her files over, etc. I don't know how long getting a new computer set up takes other people, but it takes me a couple of days, possibly because I am a perfectionist and not into the techie stuff... I don't know, but I do know that I don't want to do it more than once every couple of years. Therefore, I knew it would take me a while to get this HP customized for my relative, but what I didn't expect was that there would be trouble with the cd/dvd drive when it came to making the recommended back-up disks and the like. That feature wasn't working properly, and I tried it on my own for about 5 attempts over a couple of hours, then I called the HP help line. I ended up spending a total of 8 hours (!) on the phone with these people, 3 different support personnel, probably from 3 different countries, on very crackly phone lines, who each needed to go over the problem again with me from scratch, log in to take over the computer remotely, poke around, have me ruin 5-10 blank disks each time in getting me to attempt to backup various files, and finally admit that they could not solve the problem, before passing the buck and sending me to someone else. The second person said he was forced to take a 20 minute break, and thus had to end our call, and he promised to call me back, and told me to wait with the screen open where we had left his remote session on the desktop. Of course, he never called me back, and he shut down the remote session from his side. I waited an hour and then called the service number again (having been up all night long Thanksgiving night with this, and being at the end of my tether), and got a rude woman who obviously had a cold and was loudly sniffling and moany, who said it was not HP's problem and that it was a software issue that another company was responsible for (a malfunction in the DVD drive and with HP's own automated backup system was not HP's problem?) and she told me if I called them one more time about the issue that they'd charge me $59 an hour for giving me non-essential technical help. I told her that the computer had just been purchased and delivered the day before, and that it should be under warranty, and that the DVD drive was a part of the hardware, whereupon she got into a shouting match with me. I am a very calm person, and usually do not get into shouting matches with anyone, but I was beyond livid, and exhausted, and disappointed at HP's response to a new customer. Anyway, I ended the call, got some sleep, went on with setting up the other areas of the computer, and I managed to do what I was trying to do with the DVD backup in a different way. The DVD drive hasn't been used since (my relative mainly surfs the internet and uses email on her computer) and otherwise, in the 6 weeks or so that she's had it, my relative is happy with the computer. It turns on and shuts down much faster than her old Vista Gateway and is sleeker, simpler. One surprise was that the screen space was smaller than her old monitor - diagonally they are nearly the same, but the HP's actual useable screen is like an inch shorter vertically (much more rectangular than her old monitor, which used all the screen space it possibly could vertically), which really makes a difference visually, but again, she's a light user, so it's okay.

 "Works Great" 2010-01-03
By Kenneth Doege (brielle, new jersey United States)
I have been using now for about six weeks. Wanted to wait before posting a review. Easy set up and does the job without the tower. This is an in between type computer-not a laptop but no longer has the tower. HP advertises this product as such. In use in my office, so I have the space for a tower but this takes care of that with the all in one unit. I had to call HP service for one problem and it was handled to my satisfaction. Had to purchase a new printer-(brother 2140) because my old HP inkjet(too old) would not work with Windows 7. Purchased through Amazon and their price was more competitive than HP site. If you are looking for a good bang for the buck computer-give this one a try.

 "Great computer!!" 2010-01-02
By cheesecake1962 (FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, US)
I did quite a bit of research before I decided to buy this particular computer. It was wrapped and put under the tree so I had to wait almost a month to open it. I have to say that we are VERY happy with this computer. I love not having a bulkly tower lurking under the desk. It has everything we wanted.

"A great machine for a great price" 2010-03-08
By Peter Crisano (Boston, MA)
I purchased this Refurbished machine through Amazon, and the order was filled by J&R in NY. It's a beast of a machine. I chose standard shipping for free, but received the computer the next day. WOW. They overnighted it for free. I'm impressed!

First off, it was a real bargain at $549. The machine's 750GB of storage is plenty for me, given that I own an external harddrive and a laptop. Great specs. Windows 7 installed.

The biggest plus for me was the Wireless N card. It comes with a special antenna you screw onto the back (really simple). I bought an N compatible router also. This machine now runs my Magic Jack phone service flawlessly, and prioritizes the traffic through the N band, leaving the other computers in my house to chug along on the G band.

This computer is FAST, especially with the N card. I suggest you buy an N capable router to go with this purchase, you'll be very happy you did. 8 GB of ram, Quad processor, this thing really cooks.

Windows 7 is pretty great. I am pleased, and so far have not encountered any conflicts with other software I have installed. I use this computer at home, and have MS Office 2007, Photoshop, Flash, and some games installed.

One Con: The warranty on the Refurbished product is short, and I did have concerns about that. For the price I paid, I was very happy with this machine.

The other Con I can think of is all the HP software that is installed. Since the machine is a beast, you won't really notice the extra software applications running, but it's a breeze to uninstall all of the HP stuff you don't need.

"Good value for all you get" 2010-02-09
By Clint88 (Newport Beach, CA)
I bought this computer after my old PC died, and I have to say it's very good value for what you get. The processor is fast and quad core, the hard drive is expansive, there is more than enough memory for the average user, and Windows 7 64-bit runs with no problem. It's also very quiet and has built in wireless.

I've used it for about 4 months with no problems. The computer has built in graphics, meaning no separate graphics card, so that is one area that would need to be upgraded if you want to game on it. That upgrade is plug and play though, and very easy. The graphics are fine for normal use; Aero runs with no problems.

"May have exceeded my expectations..." 2009-11-04
By Scott Jones (Chicago IL)
I made this machine my new baby about 4 days ago and, so far, it has been nothing but fun. I bought this at my local Frye's for [...] with a BFG GeForce 210 ([...]) to replace the horrible Intel onboard graphics. The total was [...] with tax out the door, and I do believe I got my 700 bucks worth.

Out of the box, this thing is beautiful and setup would put a Mac to shame. I upgraded from a single core, Celeron 3.0GHz, and the quad Core2 is something to behold. The Q8300 chip it has is the most power efficient of the quad Core2's and it shows in how nearly silent this PC is. Quietest PC I have ever owned/seen except for laptops.

After I got it up and running and could see that all was well, I installed the GeForce 210. Install went ultra smooth and DVD playback was immediately improved. I installed an old copy of FarCry and set the graphics to their highest settings - the game played smoother than I have ever seen it before.

Unfortunately, the video card does add a fan and the system is no longer silent, it is still very quiet though, and you must do this for graphics that match the performance of this system. It is well worth it and you add an HDMI port in the process.

In the future, I plan to simultaneously upgrade the 300 watt PSU and the video card with the BFG trade-up program. That should be fun.

Awesome power (8GB of DDR3), quiet, Windows 7 - this thing rocks!

"wish there was a zero star rating" 2010-01-26
By Mrs. T. (Tennessee)
After I put the $139.99 charge on my credit card, it took about 6 hours for them to totally disable my computer. I kept getting transferred & losing the phone connection. I would call back and get a different person each time who wanted to start all over again. I demanded to speak to someone who could cancel my subscription & kept getting the run-around. I finally talked to a person from the US this morning who said she would contact someone who would remove the charge. She said give them 3-4 days since they're in another time zone. I'll check back with her & see if this actually takes place. I'm at our public library now writing this review since my own computer is now totally unusable.

Do not use this product. After their technicians worked on my computer I had to spend a fortune taking the machine to a proper technician and have all the software reloaded.

The problems start again when your subscription is due for renewal, they will not stop phoning

 "Horrible service. Not knowledgeable" 2009-03-31
By Paul V. Giguere
I used their sevices. I could not print to my wireless printer. Spent 4 1/2 hours on the phone with multiple people repeating the same answers to the same questions over and over. Many, many test later and they could not solve the problem and they needed to talk to their senior technicians and call me back the next morning. They called the next morning and we started all over again. After another 4 1/2 hours, they finally told me my wireless printer was to far away from my router. I spent $139.00 dollars and even though I have a years support. I would never, never call them again. Paul Giguere

"works with windows 7, with some work" 2010-04-07
By misscali (DE, US)
I got my win 7 upgrade in the mail, kept getting BSOD so I reinstalled windows. Got BSOD every 2-3 days after reinstalling win 7. Finally updated all my drivers, bios and everything, didn't get one for awhile. Then I got one about every month. I had had it, emailed hp, then found it immediately there is a known issue with the motherboard, so they're going to fix it, hopefully it'll fix all the problems. I guess I should of emailed hp earlier, I just figured it was a driver issue, not the computer.

Other than that I love this computer, works great. Very fast, quiet, good deal for what you get

 "Pleased with the hardware" 2010-03-07
By D. Miller (Kansas)
This desktop has been great from the moment I got it. I bought it in August of 2009 at a local electronics store. It seemed to run a little hot at first but began to run cooler after a couple days. I do a fair share of gaming and it keeps up with everything I throw at it. I made the mistake of installing the discounted Norton package that came with it (FYI - you have to unistall the demo before installing the full version or it won't work). Norton misses so many bugs its a joke. It was loaded with Vista which in some ways is slower than my previous desktop with Windows XP that was eight years old.

But back to the system itself. I'm not a electronics geek so I don't have a lot in the way of peripherals. But if I did, I still think I would have more ports than I would know what to do with. It runs quiet. I would suggest not closing this system in a cabinet so that it does have room to breath and doesn't get too hot. It does what I need - Internet, Videos, Games, DVDs.

"Pavilion - pros and cons" 2010-01-31
By EHP (Maryland, USA)
Had a couple problems out of the box, which I attributed to Vista. After making adjustments to the OS, the computer started working a whole lot better. However, it would lock up or give a BSOD from time to time. At first I didn't pay too much attention to it, but then it started to do it while I was working. Very annoying. Now I have realized it usually locks up within 15 minutes of turning it on. After the lockup, I turn it off and back on and it seems to work fine from thereon out. At least until I turn it off or sleep for an extended period. The error codes are along the lines of secondary processor timing out, hardware stopped working. I will call HP to get an RMA and hope that will solve the problem.

"Spent 1800.00 for this unit with upgrades and it was a lemon" 2010-01-19
By Trillum (Portland OR)
I purchased this model including several upgrades online with HP the first week in October 2009. My model was the e9180t. When I bought this desktop HP knew they had big problems with their mobos but still sold them.

They would lockup and freeze and you would get the blue screen of death, it was not a minor issue at all. The mobo was incompatible with it's components. They did not hold off on the build date or tell me about the bad mobo, no they just took my money.

I spent the next two months trying to get it to work and along with many other folks trying to get HP to admit to the problem and to fix it. The stall tactics at HP were deliberate while they had replacement boards made. They never admitted to anything really. Their tech support was in India which was really awful.

Earlier in the year they also had big problems with their laptops as well. This model is their top of the line desktop and I even bought it direct but I would never and I mean never buy another thing from HP after the way they lied to consumers and then covered it up. Then the long delays for the replacement mobo. Do not take my word for it, google it for yourself. You will find thousands of posts and bad reviews with many of the higher end HP desktops and laptops, use search terms like the model numbers, 9150, 9180, 9280, lockups, freezes and hangs. In 2009 they couldn't make a good laptop or desktop without big issues.

Why did they not warn me when they took my order the first week in October? It was because they were in a big take over that month and October 31 is their year end for earnings reporting and they needed all the sales they could muster after a year of endless problems. My computer now works after they replaced the mobo and new bios but it was a miserable experience and I really wonder what else is going to go wrong with this unit.

If you read the posts from others on other sites on this you will find they ended up having to live without their computer for months while they kept sending the units back like three times to get them to fix it right. They couldn't even fix them right. Some folks really went thru the ringer with HP. I have read that the bigger accounts with HP were treated much better than the individuals like myself who had bought from them. But even folks who bought several of these were given the royal run around.

They did not include a HDMI cord but you can get one for less than 4.00 at Monoprice. They also don't include the restore cds which includes the software, you have to pay 15.00 extra for those.

If anything goes wrong I shutter to think I will have to call India again where their tech support is located, it was a nightmare. They have no real training and just read from scripts so you can spend 20 hours on the phone with those guys and never get any where easily. Try to get administration on the phone with HP in the U.S. and they do not talk to the public. They have learned how to seal themselves off from the problems very effectively and the CEO and the Board of Directors don't care either. No one got fired such as the CEO after major mess up after major mess up with their laptops and then their desktops. The HP we all knew of the past no longer exists. I wished I had googled these units before I bought and saved myself a lot of hassle.

Also their warranty to return the unit is only 17 days! It takes them a few day to build the unit and then a few days to ship it to you. Also Fedx date of arrival was way off and luckily I was home when they did decide to deliver this but beware if you are having an expensive unit delivered. By the time you get the unit you might have as much as a week left on warranty if you are lucky to weed out any issues on the unit before the warranty runs out. They will try to patch you to tech support to run the clock out on warranty as well. So many folks wanted their money back on these faulty units and HP made them wait two months or much longer until they had a fix ready.

There was a class action lawsuit filed on the faulty laptops and then another one on the desktops. They based the lawsuit on them selling the desktops knowing they wouldn't work.

Also beware of the sales department at HP. They will say anything to get sale. They told me that I should buy before 10-22-09 since they inferred that the price of Win7 will probably go up. I must have called 6 times to get info before buying and every time they said this. A month after I bought the price of the entire unit went down by 10.00 so do not fall for any of their balony. The bottom line is you can't trust them.

Update 3-23-10 just got notified from lawyers about the filing of the class action suit. File on 2-12-10 [...]

"Absolute Junk ** Beware**. Motherboard is a Lemon" 2009-11-15
By Raman (Memphis, TN United States)
I have a E9180F with Vista having multiple bluescreen / Freezing issues. I believe HP knows that this model has issues, but does not admit or do anything about it. I already spent more than 20 hours jumping through all their hoops to fix the problem. Some of theTech support guys are rude and all they did was defragment the disk/ clean up malware, uninstall Firewall, do a virus scan. They had me upgraded the Bios. They even had me reinstall the whole operating system. I felt the machine actually became slower after the bios upgrade. Pretty much every tech person in HP knows this model has a problem. But they will not admit it. Some one posted a video on Youtube about this problem. Check for the title "HP Knowingly Selling Extremely Defective Pavilion Elite PCs (9150, 9180 models)" on youtube. If you ever see a postive review, it is probably posted by someone with self interest or prematurely posted with out testing their machine to the full extent. There is even a class action investigation going on. Search for "Giskan solotaroff anderson & stewart HP Elite class action" from google. According to the Tech forms I checked, all machines with 9180 / 9280 / 9150 / 9250 series seem to use the same mother board and seem to have the problem.

You are better of going with some other manufacturer who cares about the customer.
