THIS REVIEW IS ACTUALLY FOR THE HPE - 235f AMD X6 Machine, NOT the 250f!!!
We've had this machine for about six weeks now, so I'm finally ready to write a review. This machine packs a lot of bang for the buck. The X6 processor is an excellent multi-tasker. We have ours capturing gaming video from my son's XBOX360 while also converting video (sometimes 3 at a time), surfing the net, and playing blu-rays. It's very impressive! You have to throw everything but the kitchen sink at it to hit 100% CPU processing.
That said, however, its downright insulting of HP to put a 5400 RPM WD Caviar Green HDD into such a powerhouse computer. It's painfully slowed down by it's HDD. You can, however, easily add another HDD to it. I put a Samsung F3 7200 RPM drive in and relegated the WD Green to a media drive. WOW! What a difference in performance.
Find this machine on sale, and it's hard to beat its bang for the buck! It has plenty of USB ports, a firewire port, eSATA port, etc. The Blu Ray has worked out very well, but it has trouble with Disney DVD's. Probably just needs a firmware update, but I have a standalone BR player, so haven't bothered. It's really a stunning machine.
That said, expandability is an issue. The graphics card takes up the full size PCI slot, so not a lot of room in there. Also, it only has a 300W power supply.
Our machine runs 24/7 and it's been a great workhorse so far!

I've been using this PC for a couple of weeks and tested on different tasks, always getting performance over the average.
Windows 7 runs smoothly, all the 3D effects on. If you use Ubuntu or downgrade to xp64, even faster
Tested PC games in full resolution, no lags found,
I do a lot of math related jobs related to linear systems, and the performance of this Nehalem architecture is awesome. The ram memory access and parallel scalability is no more a disadvantage against the AMD processors.
Streaming DVD is fast.
In summary, if you need a reliable and fast computer, this is the one. HP did a good job designing this model with the intel i7 series i7-860, not true with all of the i7 series though, e.g i7-920

I had put together an HP system on the HP web site. I mainly wanted the high-end quad-core CPU. The next day I discovered that my chosen configuration was almost identical to the preconfigured HPE-250F system, except the HPE-250F has more memory (8GB!), better graphics, a little more software, would be delivered sooner. I was delighted to find a deal for the HPE-250F on Amazon that cost about the same too.
Amazon shipped the system quickly. It was in the original HP box, which was packed (barely) in a large, nondescript, broken box. This may have actually been an advantage, as the system was left on my doorstep without signature. I didn't have to wait an extra day or go pick it up at the shipper.
The system is beautiful and functional. Most of the software that I used to run on my old XP system installed and ran fine on this Windows 7 64-bit system. I had to delete all the junk HP had installed on top of Windows 7. Overall, I'm very happy with it. It's quick to boot, programs like Firefox come up quickly, and high-def video plays effectively.

I ordered (2) of the HP270F for me and the hubby..... we got them this last week and so far I love it.... it runs smoothly and is quiet as can be.... it is soooo much better than my other HP which I had just purchased last year.... it had vista installed and I had nothing but problem with it.... this wonderful machine has been easy peasy to use and downloaded all my digital scrapbooking software with ease..... Hubby loves his for the video games.... he's been playing non stop since it arrived.... He likes the graphics card and has had nooo problems playing the different PC games he likes..... :) I've always purchased HP's because I like the quality..... I also like having the new i7 in these machines..... again... works like a dream! I'm not toooo super computer savvy but I do notice the faster downloads and ease of use compared to other machines I've used..... I am not a fan of the keyboard at all.... it reminds me of a laptop keyboard and well I don't like laptops soooo I'm putting my old keyboard back on this machine.... I was able to find the PS2/USB connector on Amazon and it will be here Wednesday for me to switch the keyboards out...can't wait! Otherwise this is a great machine if you like playing PC games like my hubby... I haven't tried out the blueray DVD player as yet, I'll let you know once I get a DVD to put in it... But CD's and Software seem to be quick and quite.... runs well... :) does updates automatically and is very intuned with all the info I put in it.... We added the 4yr. warranty on them as a "Just in Case" Measure.... Hopefully I won't need to use it... All in all a great machine at a great price! Great Job Amazon! :)

This really is a wonderful computer. I didn't want to have to break down and buy one but my Dell has been a real P.O.S. and was constantly freezing up on me. (3 times in 1 hr and was slower than my 97 year old grandmother with her walker.) I have personnally found that my problems began after I installed PC Spyware Doctor. The program worked wonderful at first but then the computer began slowing down and freezing up. Every time the program scanned, it was telling me to repair infections. It didn't take long to realize that it was telling me to dump everything out of my computer because it was infected. All my installed Microsoft was told to be FIXED! I got sick and tired of trying to deal with it so I decided to give this one a try. It was very easy to setup and the preformance has been great. From now on I'll stay with Norton. The Dell sounded like a freight train was coming through the room. The HP is so quiet. It never sounds like it's on at all. The speed is awesome. It makes being at the computer fun again. It comes with alot of games to try out. Most are trials but it's not like MSN where they cut you off in 60 minutes. You get quite a bit of time to try each one.
